Vista on MacBookPro
I’ve managed to install vista on my new MacBookPro (yep.. I just got one a few days ago – that’s a different story tho). I’m so glad that the RTM build of Vista installs nicely with Boot Camp. No more tricks or removing EFI partitions.
At SSW we have a standard deployment for Vista. So taking it one step further I follow the standard procedure without any trouble. One strange thing is that when asked to press any key to boot up from CD, pressing the keys on the keyboard doesn’t do anything. However it seems to respond when I clicked the mouse.
Here are some things to note:
- You won’t be able to finish the whole installation of Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP file. It will prompt you that the installation was interrupted. However by this time most of the drivers should already be installed. To install the remaining drivers (see Device Manager) run the .exe with the following attributes: /A /v
This will extract the drivers but not installing them. Use these drivers to update the drivers that Vista assigned by default. - To get the eject key working correctly, go to C:\Program Files\Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP 1.1.2\Apple Keyboard and run setup.exe
Things that are not working (yet) on my machine:
- iSight – it’s recognised by the system but when in use it gives me blank screen
- Function key – the F1....F12 works, but I can’t adjust the brightness, volume, etc. All this has to be done from Window
- Keyboard backlight – Hey I can ask rite?

Genuine Advantage(?)
I don't know about you, but I wasn't asked any serial when installing the software neither it is a released product. In the mean time I'm unable to use online template in my Microsoft Word.
Expect more gripes to come...

This video shows Microsoft's vision of Longhorn. They claimed that it's ready by October 2003. Honestly, the video is waaayy.. more exciting than the actual Vista on my laptop
